Program Description
The MUSA Mentorship Program is an 8-week experience that focuses on enriching non-first year students' business skills while fostering involvement in MUSA. This program welcomes students interested in any career path. This program was designed to create a place for transfer students and those who were not involved with the MUSA Rep Program to get involved with student government and sharpen their professionalism.
As a mentee, you'll have the chance to establish personalized 1-on-1 connections with mentors throughout the entire program. Together, you'll work through a series of workshops that cover a range of professional development topics, including resume building, networking strategies, public speaking techniques, and more. We encourage those who are eager to build their professional skills to apply, especially those who have not engaged with MUSA or other campus orgs in the past.
Alternatively, if you have a desire to contribute to the community and support a fellow student's growth, we invite you to apply as a mentor.
The program will consist of weekly meetings during Fall quarter scheduled on Thursdays from 6-7 PM, but mentors and mentees will be encouraged to meet beyond regularly scheduled meeting times.
By participating in the MUSA Mentorship Program, you'll have the invaluable opportunity to enhance your business acumen, develop crucial professional skills, and make meaningful contributions to the thriving MUSA community.

What Students Have to Say...

What was your favorite part about being a mentor in MUSA’s mentorship program?
My favorite part about being a mentor in MUSA's mentorship program is being given the chance to help another student with their professional development and growth. It was very fulfilling for me to give my mentee tips and advice that ultimately led him to obtain an internship. - Richard Hunt (mentor) What was your favorite part about being a mentee in MUSA’s Mentorship Program? My favorite part about being a mentee in MUSA’s mentorship program was the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with my mentor while receiving guidance on my professional journey. Not only did my mentor help me land an internship, but they also helped me recognize the growth I’ve made as I worked toward my goals. What made the experience even more rewarding were the valuable friendships I've gained through the program, as well as the lasting bond I built with my mentor, which continued even after the program ended. - Micilla Lai (mentee) How did being a mentor help you? Being a mentor has helped me give back to the merage community in the most meaningful way. When I first arrived at UCI I would've been lost without my mentor's advice and guidance and it's great to be that person for someone else. The experiences and bond you share with your mentee are truly unforgettable and it's a great way to get to know other mentors as well! - Felix Toffaneto Wener (mentor) Why should I apply to be a MUSA Mentee? There's nothing you can lose from applying to be a MUSA Mentee, so I recommend everyone to go for it! All of the mentors that you may be partnered up with are there willingly to help support your academic and professional career here at UCI, so they're great people. The mentee experience especially came in handy for me when Winter quarter rolled around, as I was able to network with the former president for a club called Global Business Brigades (GBB); that initial networking is what helped me get a board position for GBB this upcoming year! Overall, my experience as a MUSA Mentee allowed me to feel better connected to the students at Paul Merage, and I am truly thankful for that. - Rina Taing (mentee) |
